boast? worry? same thing …

To not worry if your beautiful enough or smart enough or woman enough, to not worry if he is interested in you or if there is a spark between you or if he is in love with you is to not think so much about yourself.  When you worry, you are thinking highly of yourself. The job is to put into the relationship. The job is to bless, edify, share, touch, & enjoy. The job is to spur one another towards God.   You can fully love with abandonment from self because ultimately God loves you deeply and that is all you need.

Let another man praise thee, and not thine own mouth; a stranger, and not thine own lips. ~ Proverbs 27:2

bending God's ear about you…

Bet your window's rolled down and your hair's pulled back
And I bet you got no idea you're going way too fast
You're trying not to think about what went wrong
Trying not to stop 'til you get where you goin'
You're trying to stay awake so I bet you turn on the radio
And the song goes

I can't live without you, I can't live without you, baby
I can't live without you, I can't live without you, baby, hm baby

The highway won't hold you tonight
The highway don't know you're alive
The highway don't care if you're all alone
But I do, I do.
The highway won't dry your tears
The highway don't need you here
The highway don't care if you're coming home
But I do, I do.
I bet you got a dead cell phone in your shotgun seat
Yeah, I bet you're bending God's ear talking 'bout me.
You're trying not to let the first tear fall out
Trying not to think about turning around
You're trying not to get lost in the sound but that song is always on
So you sing along
I can't live without you, I can't live without you, baby
I can't live without I can't live without you baby, oh baby
The highway won't hold you tonight
The highway don't know you're alive
The highway don't care if you're all alone
But I do, I do.
The highway won't dry your tears
The highway don't need you here
The highway don't care if you're coming home
But I do, I do.
I can't live without you, I can't live without you, baby
I can't live without I can't live without you, baby, oh baby
 The highway don't care
The highway don't care
The highway don't care
But I do, I do.

I can't live without you, I can't live without you, baby (The highway don't care)
I can't live without I can't live without you, baby, oh baby (But I do, I do)
I can't live without you (The highway don't care)
The highway don't care, the highway don't care
(The highway don't care) I can't live without you, I can't live without you, baby
But I do, I do
(The highway don't care) the highway don't care (The highway don't care) the highway don't care,
I can't live without you, I can't live without you baby, oh baby (But I do, I do)
I can't live without you, I can't live without you, baby

This is a new song sung by Taylor Swift and Tim McGraw. Songs become loved and well worn when it hits real life and broken hearts - in my case a once broken heart.  I used to bend God's ear when he was away but still do now that my smile is back. I do go back to my heartbroken notes and thank my Heavenly Father for mending hearts and overflowing blessings of restoration …

seasons of man …

There is a time for intimacy. There is a time for strengthening.

There is a time for coming together. There is a time for filling one's soul.

There is a time for one another. There is a time for oneness with God.

There is a time for fullness. There is a time for hunger.

There is a time for blooming. There is a time for growing.

I asked God for a picture to help me understand man's way with a maiden. I asked for help as a man comes close but then moves away. It is Spring. Everything is growing. I realized that has a season of bloom and a season of growth. Same with a man. He needs intimacy and he needs his warrior strength. Like always God gave me a picture to hold.

juice in the grape …

Oh, how it feels like the last of the last days! Can it get any worse before my Lord and Master takes me out with a trumpet shout? He could come yet today but He could wait many more days for those who yet need to choose Him.

Summer 2012 was extremely hot and very dry. The woods thinned. Corn fields browned and crisped in the height of July making me sad and a bit worried as I drove to work and home in air condition each day. Pear trees had no pears for pear butter. Birds had daily pool parties at the bird bath that I kept filled for them. And the grapes? The sparse shriveled clusters on the vines had no promise left in them. Deep in the soul of today, it is hot dry summer with no juice left in the grape. Or is there a hint of that deep stain?

'In the later times many will abandon the faith' ( I Timothy 4:1). How disturbing! I look deep within. How do you keep the faith when all are forsaking? Then I found an interesting verse - a little something to quench the thirst: "As when juice is still found in a cluster of grapes…don't destroy it, there is yet some good in it." Isaiah 65:8.

It is that age old promise again. God promised to Abraham that He would not destroy Sodom and Gomorrah if there where still believers left. He promises that still today. We are still here so there is still juice in the grape! There is Hope. This is my job! Be ready for the harvest is near and then wine season will begin. So until then, keep the juice in the grape!

cup vs puddle…

I guess I thought freedom was a noble word where it was freeing a life from bondage whether it was slavery or persecution for beliefs not to spout off in name of free speech or rights to do whatever. All courtesy and self control have no value anymore. Morals are useless. Now every day is filled with protests, riots, twitter wars, & running up votes for a song to defame a prime minister for her controversial leadership. I hate say this but why are we surprised that everyday seems to be filled with shootings and bombings. Freedom of speech? How can I equate the two? How can you not? We've taken manners and respect from liberty. Let freedom ring leaves a ringing in my sore ears.

In the past I've described liberty as a fence for within the boundary both dog and master can be free. I know too well the tragedy of not have a fence with the lost of my Sam. Sadly, from the turmoil of today's earth, another vision or word picture comes …maybe to save a little generation that is in my household.

It comes from the Bible where we are to be at the ready with a cup of cold water for our dry and thirsty neighbor or enemy. The water is cool but contained in the confines of a cup. With this simple unassuming boundary, we can meet someone else's need. It generosity. It is saving. It is selfless. It is noble. I deem it freedom! Can you save a bound soul when you spill that water to have it trodden upon and muddied? Can you gather up that mud puddle and free someone of thirst? What do you get when you throw water at someone's face? This is an act of defiance and meanness. This is an act of anarchy!! Yes, anarchy!! Today we live loudly outside the box without restraint . There is no self control.

Why have rules? It is a question I like to ask the agnostic. Rules are of God to protect us and give us freedom. If there is no God, throw out all laws! Dead serious. Give me the cup. I cannot be happy without it. Interesting… "pursuit of happiness" isn't so happy when we are speeding headlong into the fiery depths of HELL.

Freedom without self control and courtesy is NOT freedom. It is sinking sludge hole, veracious and hellish. This gift of precious cold water that our founding forefathers gave us to preserve, we have acted like a spoiled brat and the cup is shattered. Now we are left with a puddle AND the Wrath of God.

leanness …

It is erie to read history only to have it feel like today. We have forgotten our thankfulness to God. Scratch that. We have kicked God to the curb. We are so into OUR OWN INVENTIONS. We create things and defile them. God calls it whoring. We are definitely in the wilderness but we are blind to our own affliction. We don't cry out. God's wrath jealously burns but He would rather us to come running into His waiting Arms. We just go on whoring blind and dumb. What will it take to feel the leanness in our souls?

Psalms 106

As a believer what really caught my eye was the "leanness of the soul". I've had this leanness in my soul. I lacked His Joy. I embraced duplicity. It wasn't until God brought me low that I began to focus on thanksgiving because it was all I could do. It was hard to sing but I did even if all I could do was hum. God Who created me and begun a good work in me, begun to change and grow me.

You know that BBQ ribs are best when juicy, succulent, and fat. Where you are smacking your lips and the yumminess oozes all over your face and smile deepens and the eyes brighten in ecstasy… FAT. Fatness of soul … what a ministry a fatness of soul believer can have in a wasteland of leanness of soul earthbound pagans. Yet it will be like trying to get someone to eat after they have crossed the threshold of actively starving themselves but we must share… It is the hardest task in this age - to get an anorexic soul to come to Salvation's Feast laden table. Which means that believer's need to keep their soul's fat by feasting on the Word to keep fit in these days of famine and wasteland.

Save us, O Lord our God, and gather us from among the heathen, to give thanks unto thy holy name, and to triumph in thy praise. ~Psalms 106:47

Be afflicted, and mourn, and weep: let your laughter be turned to mourning, and your joy to heaviness. Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and He shall lift you up. ~ James 4:9, 10

be the damsel…

When hearing damsel, we always hear distress. This should not be!
Here is the definition from Merriam-Webster dictionary: a) young woman: a young unmarried woman of noble birth; a noblewoman. b) girl. Nothing distressing. In fact I like the meaning.

I am a child of God. I am of nobility! I should be living as a damsel. So how should it damsel behave? Or I should say how should a damsel behave towards a man that she is interested in? Here is the list:
1. Trust & admire his manliness.
2. Trust & admire his hero nobility.
3. Trust he walks with God & that God directs his kingly heart.
4. Receive his manliness.
5. Receive who he is.
6. Receive his God-given gifts.
7. Celebrate him.
8. Allow him to make you happy.
9. Give plenty of manly adjectives.
10. Give bright eyes & fat bones with all of your greetings & sendings.
11. Speak highly of him.

It is about preferring him. When you trust that he walks with God and God directs his kingly heart, you can let go of the death grip that you might have on the relationship and enjoy the adventure ahead. The hero is always there to pursue you but a girl can be lethal and kill it in him. Try enjoying him instead of changing him. Be a Godly damsel and when you are in distress your hero will be there. This is a gentle quiet spirit at work that God calls us girls to be.

Your beauty … should be that of your inner self, the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is of great worth in God’s sight. 1 Peter 3:3-4

bow the knee…

What a privilege to come into God's presence,
just to linger with the One who set me free.
As I lift my eyes and see His Awesome Glory,
I remember Who He is and bow the knee.

Bow the knee, bow the knee,
He is King of all the ages, bow the knee!
God alone on His throne,
see Him high and lifted up and bow the knee!
Kneel before Him, all adore Him.
As you live to love Him more, bow the knee.

In His Hand He holds the Power of creation.
With His voice He spoke and all things came to be.
Yet He hears each simple prayer I bring before Him
when I humbly seek His face and bow the knee.

Bow the knee, bow the knee,
He is King of all the ages, bow the knee!
God alone on His throne,
see Him high and lifted up and bow the knee!
Kneel before Him, all adore Him.
As you live to love Him more, bow the knee.

Bow the knee, bow the knee,
He is King of all the ages, bow the knee!
God alone on His throne,
see Him high and lifted up and bow the knee!
Kneel before Him, all adore Him.
As you live to love Him more,
bow the knee. Bow the knee. Bow the knee.

Written by Ron Hamilton

I mutter 'bow the knee' whenever the boss made me frustrated and I wanted to please my Heavenly Father with a gentle quiet spirit. My relationship with the boss has changed for the better. The boss can still frustrate me like she has in recent days. Then I heard this song play on the radio. A gentle reminder from God that I can do this. It is a waste to be an angst over something that isn't Eternal. Bottom line is the soul trumps my job. Jesus Christ wants this soul. He paid for the soul. I cannot make the choice for this soul but a gentle quiet chips away the hardest rock…

Jesus keeps me singing…

There’s within my heart a melody
Jesus whispers sweet and low,
Fear not, I am with thee, peace, be still,
In all of life’s ebb and flow.

~Refrain:~
Jesus, Jesus, Jesus,
Sweetest Name I know,
Fills my every longing,
Keeps me singing as I go.

All my life was wrecked by sin and strife,
Discord filled my heart with pain,
Jesus swept across the broken strings,
Stirred the slumb’ring chords again.

~Refrain:~
Jesus, Jesus, Jesus,
Sweetest Name I know,
Fills my every longing,
Keeps me singing as I go

Feasting on the riches of His grace,
Resting ’neath His shelt’ring wing,
Always looking on His smiling face,
That is why I shout and sing.

~Refrain:~
Jesus, Jesus, Jesus,
Sweetest Name I know,
Fills my every longing,
Keeps me singing as I go

Though sometimes He leads through waters deep,
Trials fall across the way,
Though sometimes the path seems rough and steep,
See His footprints all the way.

~Refrain:~
Jesus, Jesus, Jesus,
Sweetest Name I know,
Fills my every longing,
Keeps me singing as I go

Soon He’s coming back to welcome me,
Far beyond the starry sky;
I shall wing my flight to worlds unknown,
I shall reign with Him on high.

~Refrain:~
Jesus, Jesus, Jesus,
Sweetest Name I know,
Fills my every longing,
Keeps me singing as I go

Psalms 40:3
Luther Bridge

To keep singing when you don't feel like it. When your boss comes in and changes your Saturday plans and you see your plans for getting your house painted and ready to decorate wash away. The house begins to loom large and you can't have it. You aren't going to let it get you down so you find you got to sing. Then the radio plays this song… God is so good…

rest in His Presence ...

Meaty: "This is how we KNOW that we belong to the Truth & how we set our hearts at REST in His Presence whenever our hearts fail & condemn us. For God is greater than our hearts & He KNOWS all of me good & bad. # I John 3:19-20

Skinny: to keep my faint heart in His Presence cuz He covers & keeps my heart no matter what

adventure …

There is something about the word adventure that excites the mind. Plans start to form. The heart starts to beat faster. The face begins to flush like petal soft roses. There is a lightness and a bounce n the footsteps. There is no drudgery. There is an "I can do this" attitude. Adventure isn't just for men. There is something there for the girl.

This girl, this tiny girl often feels like a minuscule speck up against such vastness. Probably more like the poor confused squirrel this morning who had started to venture across the road only to have two rumbling beasts barreling towards him.

I had let the house loom too large for me. Requests for help have been tossed aside. I decided that I needed to step back, access, and then do what I could allowing things to fall in place unlike the squirrel who didn't stay backed and risked his hide in front of my jeep. I think he made it and saved my poor heart. Not sure how his little heart faired.

To stop getting discouraged over things I have no control ove,r I decided the best thing to do is turn a question lose. "What adventure can I get into today?" It makes the eye begin to twinkle and the fingers drum together. It blows away the endless to-do lists leaving what gets done a satisfaction.

So what if I have ugly beige inners to my outlets and light switches! So what if I stumble my way to the front door in winter because the light switches are on the entry side. So what if the bar table is at table height. They are going on the baha list. They will get done and most likely by me. I shall be that adventurist that pulls our the pictures saying "I been and done that". No more freak outs and low points. It is about off roading. Be the beast. Roar!!!!!

singing I go …

I notice that on the weekends where I for the most part have the mornings to myself, I get a little grouchy when I have small friendly helpful intrusions. This should not be! Where are my bright eyes and fat bones (Proverbs 15:30)? I needed a song or something to feed my brain to be more successful at a welcoming spirit. This was my Saturday thought.

Sunday as I was getting around for church, this hymn came on and the chorus was catchy. This is a song my brain can dig its talons into, allowing a bounce in my heart.

Singing I Go
I. The trusting heart to Jesus clings,
Nor any ill forebodes,
But at the cross of Calv’ry, sings,
Praise God for lifted loads!

Chorus
Singing I go along life’s road,
Praising the Lord, praising the Lord,
Singing I go along life’s road,
For Jesus has lifted my load.

II. The passing days bring many cares,
“Fear not,” I hear Him say,
And when my fears are turned to prayers,
The burdens slip away.

Chorus
Singing I go along life’s road,
Praising the Lord, praising the Lord,
Singing I go along life’s road,
For Jesus has lifted my load.

III. He tells me of my Father’s love,
And never slumb’ring eye,
My everlasting King above
Will all my needs supply.

Chorus
Singing I go along life’s road,
Praising the Lord, praising the Lord,
Singing I go along life’s road,
For Jesus has lifted my load.

IV. When to the throne of grace I flee,
I find the promise true,
The mighty arms upholding me
Will bear my burdens too.

my heart…

The best valentines is God's gift of salvation. He chases. He's relentless. He wants us. He desires us to be His own but we have a choice to desire Him back.

I found a couple verses that express my love back to Him:

"Because Your Love is better than life, my lips will glorify You." ~ Psalms 63:3

"As the deer pants for streams of water, so my soul pants for You, O God. " ~ Psalms 42:1

Winter Morn …

I am bit peculiar about color. It is deep rooted in how it makes me feel. I like to wear or surround myself with colors that are clean like white. I like royal colors like purples and berry reds. I like blues like the deep calm expressive cornflower blue that comes to ours skies in October. These colors fill me with warmth, strength, and joy. However, my house needs total overhaul when it comes to color.

It has been a long road to make this happen. I got my craftcave white and bright from the leftover paint. Bring on the creativity!! I got the tall walls in the library draped in Blue Cloud. It feels deep and inspiring. More daydreaming, writing, and reading ahead. I got the master bedroom robbed in a rich dusty purple. Feels like a jewel box with accents of the deep wood and silver. That was what I could do last year.

A new year and with the cans of white paint waiting, it is time to tackle the dirty drab beige walls that make up the main living space. I've been working it slowly each Saturday and I am amazed at the transformation. I now can sit back and take in the beautiful Winter Morn white walls in the living and dining rooms. I takes my breath away. I even was able to move my patriotic and cobalt dishes into my hutch! What a delight to see the reds, the blues, and the whites come together.

After a hard year and starting a fresh one, it is nice to have a fresh colorful start but not forgetting lessons learned in the dark.

A blessed remembrance is that a long time ago my Heavenly Father painted the drab beige walls of my heart this brilliant white. What a gift salvation is. When darkness comes and I can't see the white walls, I need to get into the lap of my Heavenly Father and let Him sing over me reminding me that His Plans are better. His Red washes making dirty hearts Whiter than snow and His Peace is restful blue.

"But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people belonging to God, that you may declare the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His Wonderful Light. "

expectant, patient, contented…

I must tell you about why my beloved Andy holds a special place in my heart. He's a furry toy fox terrier and a brother to Bobby. Even though he is three times smaller than his cousin Tink, he is the alpha dog. It is his house rules and they must be followed. I get it. I'm a first born. Rules are good to keep things in an orderly pattern and smooth. I've had to learn not to inflect rules over others but I still can use rules and patterns in my work and life.

Toy fox terriers are animated nervous excitable enjoyable furry pups. They shake when they excited. They shake when they are nervous. They shake when they are cold. Andy and Bobby shake. I understand this. I can get cold quite quickly and when I get nervous, I get a bit shakeable.

Toy fox terriers like their food, treats, and especially their cookies. They know how to tell time. They know their humans' patterns and know how to use it get their treats. Bobby and Tink exploit all the time. Andy enjoyed the treats but wouldn't use this tactic. He's expectant and look at you with those expressive eyes that makes you melt. Bobby and Tink have small window of contentment. When their bellies are full and they are getting human time, they are content only until they think their tummies are touching their backbones! Andy wasn't this way. He loved his treats and his food but he knew that we would give him food and love. He was expectant but always content and patient with us. Because of this very trait being his master was our honor.

So shouldn't we be more like that with our Heavenly Father and Master? Shouldn't we be expectant of His Goodness, patient with His Timing, and content with His Presence? What an honor for our King! Enjoyable. What a precious lesson from my beloved and enjoyable little Andy.

what to keep…

I have been feeling small this week. It's the little things like sensing mom is either upset with me or she isn't back to her chipper self after being sick. It's having those who are more loud being very vocal on their opinions about certain controversial things found in the Bible that are decisive and point away from His Holy Word. This isn't how I wanted to start 2013.

I am small. I am quiet. I am obstinate yet I abhor conflict. I'll end up fading instead of speaking out. She feels it is of God in her stand as do I where I stand. I don't know how to pray. I don't think it right to ask for God's assurance that I am right and she is wrong. I do have to make my path as true to His Word as I can.

I do believe I'm done with this girl's Bible study. I do better studying on my own and under sound male Bible teachers like ones on radio where I don't have to worry about the rest of the class and especially women cackle.

I did find some encouragement to pray:
my Dear Heavenly Father,
"Keep me as the apple of your eye; Hide me in the shadow of your wings…" (Psalms 17:8). I don't want to lose my passion or desire for You. I have treasured the JOY You give and can't go on without it. Keep me…. Please keep me…

standing on the promises

Having been raised on hymns, you to tend to remember the first stanzas and the other lines tend to be a bit fuzzy. I love this hymn and want to focus on the second line because it's so encouraging in these times. His Promises are ever true and safe.

2. Standing on the promises that cannot fail,
When the howling storms of doubt and fear assail,
By the living word of God I shall prevail,
Standing on the promises of God.

Chorus:
Stand - - - ing, stand - - - ing,
(Standing on the promises, Standing on the promises,)
Standing on the promises of God my Savior;
Stand - - - ing, stand - - - ing,
(Standing on the promises, Standing on the promises,)
I'm Standing on the promises of God.

scattering and gathering …

2012 has been an extremely rough year for me. I don't think I'm exaggerating to say it has been the worst so far. I've had hard times, loss and deaths before and I don't want to diminish the labor or the lessons learned, but this year it has been unrelenting with the battering. Some think this will be the norm as the earth's time winds down.

I began the year with the prospect of buying a home. I was very scared and tried to reframe it as a feast. Just take one bite at a time and try not to let it frighten little me. All feasting daydreams vanished as the huge frozen turkey landed on my foot and the each month since has been like wading through a dark bog.

Upon reflection this year indeed was about feasting and taking one bite after another! No it wasn't enjoyable feasting but rather about the daunting task of eating, chewing, & swallowing a feast of tough pork chops. It was a feast of the unknown and allowing God to have His Way with me.

After trying to process and working to de-stress and begin anew, I realized that I had gathered all the negatives together and they over powered me. Shame on me! On comes the hazmat suit to scatter these sticks of dynamite away from each other and to defuse each separately and then gather the good together.

When I started doing so the unknown isn't holding up in the face that God keeps being Present in my life. I like that a lot! The smile is a lot easier but it has not been easy to stay on top. I'm having to stare defiantly in the face of the unknown and see that God was always there and He provided all the way.

So 2013 may come at me again hitting and striking. Time to hit back with good treasure.

crying on a suitcase…

Boy, don’t wait, don’t think, don’t lock the door behind you
Run and jump into your truck and hit the gas
Burn some rubber up
Yeah, your time’s running out, do it now

Take a shortcut, take a back road, take the shoulder to the exit
Skip the parking, screw the ticket, hit the curb and leave it sitting
Whatever it takes, you gotta get to that gate

She’s crying on a suitcase, sitting at the airport
Waiting on the airplane ‘bout to take her out of here
They’re gonna call her number, she’ll sit down by the window
The plane’ll leave the runway and fade into a goodbye sky
You’ve gotta run while you’ve still got time
She’s crying on a suitcase

Admit it boy, you blew it, really messed it up
You can make excuses if you really wanna lose her
It’s all on the line, do or die time, getting on your knees time
Tell her that you want her, need her, love her, gotta have her
Everything good in your life begins and ends with her
Lose your pride while you can, come on, man, be a man

She’s crying on a suitcase, sitting at the airport
Waiting on the airplane ‘bout to take her out of here
They’re gonna call her number, she’ll sit down by the window
The plane’ll leave the runway and fade into a goodbye sky
You’ve gotta run while you’ve still got time
She’s crying on a suitcase

She’s crying on a suitcase
Waiting on the airplane ‘bout to take her out of here
They’re gonna call her number, she’ll sit down by the window
The plane’ll leave the runway and fade into a goodbye sky
You’ve gotta run while you’ve still got time, you've still got time
She’s crying on a suitcase
Waiting on the airplane
She’ll fade into a goodbye sky
