Fav Words of 2010
I definitely love this word. I of course love honey now that I can't have the wretched white stuff.
* Cacophonous* = marked by harsh sounds
I love compare and constrast and this word is a perfect foil to mellifluous.
* Aubergine* = eggplant
I was told this was a word for the color of eggplant. She probably found the word in a catalog. I have looked for this word in the dictionaries and I cannot find. (doesn't help if you have too many u's in the word) Another thing is that this word is a British word originating from the French. Merriam-Webster has a neat feature that speaks the word. This word was a surprise to me!
I love purple and what better word to add to my vocabulary.
I enjoyed the movie "Love Happens" where the florist was like a word gorilla. I love words and I want to put more wow in my word knowledge! Now to be sneaky and leave words for other to discover!!
I had two other words that is on some yellow sticky note somewhere. I was bad and didn't retain them in my head. I will do better!

Fav reads of 2010
* "Come Alway My Beloved" by Frances J Roberts ***Best of Show***
Love her so much I got all her books!!!! I also have been giving to the girls in my life as gifts.
* "Vinegar Boy" by Alberta Haus
It was an audio that I must find the book for. It is a fictional story taking place at the time of Jesus at the Cross.
* "God Knows My Size" by Harvey Yoder.
Another audio book.
* "Daily Light" by Jonathan Bagster
I found this devotional to something simple but powerful for family time. It could be very thought provoking for teenagers. It is total God's Word and not someone else's take on it.
* "The Last Song" by Nicholas Sparks
Sparks's best book - about a father daughter love.
* "The Lucky One" by Nicholas Sparks
* "I Kissed Dating Goodbye" by Joshua Harris
Of course the title is what drew me but I left it in the bookstore flyer until I found it at my favorite second hand shop! You could say I liked it because I have given up on getting married. I don't believe so because I do still believe in marriage so some of what Joshua purposes is hard to swallow for anyone especially those in love. What really struck home was he told both guys and girls to stop toying with each other. I totally agree. That is where the damage happens. I want to reread the book and I also want to check out his other book "Boy Meets Girl".
* "Oogy" by Larry Levin
A wonderful story about unconditional love of a dog even when mistreated.
* "Spoken from the Heart" by Laura Bush
I've started the book. It might be about Laura but also gives me a view into my Mom's world.
I am still working on the Narnia series! Yikes! On the docket is the GWB book. I also have the Kindle app so got some classics to read and others to reread.

fav reads of 2008
Do you need a boost to get your focus back on your dreams and the stuff of importance? This is a must read!
* ''Meeting God at a Dead End'' by Ron Mehl
This is a favorite author of mine. When I began to get lost in October with the job mess, I got into this book. Great renewing of the mind stuff.
* ''Chronicles of Narnia''
Started to read the series and must continue to finish. I am not a big fan of science fiction but with the movies it helps to see it in your imagination as you read. I fell in love with the Lord of the Rings & these authors where friends, maybe I could fall in love with Narnia. Well, I didn't fall for Narnia like I have with the Rings, but a good read none the less!
fav hymns for 2008
* ''Jesus, I am Resting, Resting''
* My Hope is Built on Nothing Less - nov
* ''I heard the Bells on Christmas Day'' by Henry W Longfellow - dec
and a little chorus:
Oh, say that I'm glad, I'm glad.
Oh, say that I'm glad.
fav tunes of 2008
* ''Miss You'' by EI
* ''Don't Forget about Me.'' by EI
* ''Learning How to Bend'' by Gary Allen
* ''Shattered'' (turn this car around) by o.a.r.
* ''Addicted'' by ...
* ''Gotta be Somebody'' by Nickelback
Like always give me a song that is all about lonely or broken hearts and I will tend to like it. My heart is a big fat feeler and very sappy - a good thing for empathy but for my personal heart aguish and pain, it is purely a very dark eery place. It is my heart standing front and center exhaling. Funny thing though is that hymns really feed my soul and happy reigns..
I am a country fan but this year not so many on the list! Hmmm ...

Flashback: Imcomplete CD by Backstreet Boys
- needing to feel this deep enough to get rid of the imcomplete feelings that haunt me... will it work?
basically give me heartbreak and I will love it.
fav reads of 2007
--->Lovvvvvvve this book. I am soooo sick of others telling me what to do! This little read appealed to my mind and I turned it onto myself - teaching myself how to think and do better and I hope to master the art of conversation without straying to conflict!! Top book of the year.
*The Way of the Wild Heart by John Elderidge
--->This was way better than his Wild at Heart because he offered a way through a man's path. I found it very helful even in my own girl path. Wonder if he will have a sequal to Captiviting???
*P.S. I Love You by Cecelia Ahern
--->I do watch what I read and I wasn't sure if I should partake of this one. However, I am a weird place (more on this weirdness in an entry coming soon). I want to grieve and I want to experience someone else's grief and not my own. My grief isn't a real death but rather ridding myself of feelings and wishes that need to die. The best and the saddest part of the book was the Gerry. He was a husband who was funny and could make his wife smile. I am not sure how to put it to words other than he got his role right and completed his wife - not that he made her whole but they were just great. It just makes the ache in my own heart deeper. The book is much better than the movie but they did get Gerry spot on. One thing not good about the book was the language.
*True Believer by Nicholas Sparks
---> I like reading his books to get a guys insight on relationships. His other books I've enjoyed better.
*Psalms 18
---> Do you want the guy on the white horse coming to your rescue? Read this as a damsel and see how God is the Knight in Shiny Armor. I read it when especially low.
fav movies of 2007
*3:10 to Yuma - best western of the year & best intense eyes
*Bourne Ultimatum - best energy adrenaline of the year (will have soar eyes and a smidge of ha after)
*No Reservation - best romantic chick flick of the year!

a slush day ...
There is something special in having an unexpected morning all to yourself to spend as you please without any timetables set by others or society. Can't wait to set some dessert in the crockpot, read, and paint all the while praying without ceasing ...
Maybe I will have to declare more 'slush days' for myself ... it is like a mini vacation ....
